Ever since Apex Racing UK was first imagined, our mandate was to build a team that could compete in the iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series. Well 4 years later and not only do we compete but we have finished on the podium and developed more drivers into the WCS, than any other iRacing team, thanks to the Apex Academy. Open wheel and the F1 has been our focus for a long time but now we are adding more goals to our mission.
- Expand our focus from the open wheels into the GT,
- Build a division of Apex dedicated to GT Racing,
- Compete to win in all series we take part in,
- Have at least 2 Professional Sim racers within our team by 2018!
A good part of this we require fresh ideas and new faces within the team, it is our pleasure to reveal the first of several driver announcements for 2017. First up are 2 new drivers joining us for our 2017 IWCGPS campaign, Patrik Holzmann & Michael Dinkel. Both drivers have shown amazing performance in 2016 and working with Apex will give them the support and strength in depth they need to push even further. Both drivers will complement our existing line up. 2017 is going to be very exciting when our Pro series drivers, join us all on the grid to make one of the strongest line ups the series has seen. Berryman, Carroll, Dinkel, Higelin, Holzmann, Job and Simpson will also be joined by Apex Academy drivers progressing through the winter Pro Series.
Branching out in 2017, Apex Racing will have a dedicated GT3 team. New driver Simon Povey will be joining our Blancpain Team for the Qualifying Series, where we plan on running 2 cars with the goal of reaching the 2017 Blancpain GT Series. Our dedicated team will be joined by some of our open wheel drivers making this again one strong line up for 2017. Apex are showing their commitment to the GT Series by launching a GT version of the Apex Academy 2.0. For more information on that head over to the iRacing forums for either the Audi R8 LMS or the Mercedes AMG GT3. More GT3 drivers will be announced soon!
Showing our commitment to the community, we are pleased to announce Jon Edwards as our first Apex Racing Academy Ambassador. The Academy is expanding fast and we want to ensure we give every member the best experience during the season they join. Jon will be on hand to answer any question and get all the knitty gritty information out of the pro’s and share it with the community.
As well as expanding the Academy, Apex are reaching out into many more official series. With this in mind, please welcome on board Kia Cup Series Champions, Steliyan Chepilevski. Steliyan will not only be running in the official series for Apex but will join us in 2017 for the MSA BSR Pro Series.
Alex Marshall joins our full team. You might not see Alex on track much, that’s because he is editing all of our broadcasts that go out on Motors TV.
Further to all the Sim racers joining Apex, we have made a pledge to help real drivers get the most out of sim racing. Engagement of real drivers helps drive development of our hobbie. To this end we will be working with and helping Benny Simonsen, Nathan Davies & Roy Geerts to have a lot of fun on iRacing.
