Phillip Island was hosting Apex Racing UK’s running this week with Jesper Pedersen and Pierre Urbizu running as normal in the Pro Road Series for 69 gruelling laps round the tricky coastal circuit!
Phillip Island is best known for MotoGP riders battling against the inevitable elements that are ever present at the Southern Australian Island. Thankfully we don’t have the elements to worry about in iRacing (maybe one day) but nonetheless the fast but twisty, undulating circuit offers little sympathy to driver errors!
Jesper and Pierre qualified a strong 11th and 17th respectively out of 27 starters. Both had an eventful first lap unfortunately, each taking trips to the Australian bush at different times.
As Pierre rejoined the track back from his exploration of the Australian outback he clipped Jesper putting Pierre out of the race after lap 1 with terminal damage. Jesper managed to battle one with apparently no damage and made an exciting fightback through the field, even with a 15 second pit lane speeding penalty to make it more of a challenge.
Lots of coverage in the livestream of Jesper showed us some great battling as he fought his way up to 10th place with a great last few laps.
Jesper is currently 18th in the standings with Pierre holding on to 24th (top 25 finish is the target for promotion to the Drivers World Championship!).
For the rest of the team a mere 40 lap race was the challenge. ARUK stats from this week:

Looks like a real battle is developing between Sam and Alex for who is going to keep the top spot!!! No doubt it will spur them both on to keep pushing for the remainder of the season.
A slight drop on participation for the week, but next up is Road America which all of the team have run plenty before in various cars and on various games! Hoping for some strong results for the week. I certainly need to try to put Lindsay and Liam back in their place!!!!
